TVU Networks wins 'Best of Show' Award for new Remote Production system

GTC sponsor TVU Networks, the global technology leader in live IP video solutions, won a 'Best of Show' Award from NewBay Media publication 'TV Technology' at NAB 2016 for the TVU RPS (Remote Production System) – a new, cost-effective alternative solution for live, remote, synchronized multi-camera news and sports coverage.

The GTC is very grateful to TVU Networks who will be partnering with Techex to live stream the GTC Awards presentation from Aynho on Sunday 22 May from 19.00.

The TVU RPS system

Debuting at the NAB Show, TVU RPS eliminates the need for expensive and complex mobile truck use for production of major sporting and broadcast events. The system enables the production of a live, multi-camera programme in a remote location using mainly a broadcaster’s existing control room in their studio and a public Internet connection from the field. The TVU RPS transmitter encodes up to four synchronized SDI sources and transmits high-quality and low-latency IP video from the remote location to a studio-based TVU receiver. The receiver, in turn, outputs four synchronized SDI outputs. With TVU RPS, broadcasters can utilize in-house production staff and equipment at the studio, saving significant cost in producing a remote, multi-camera live shoot.

“TVU Networks is very pleased to be recognized by TV Technology for our new TVU Remote Production System,” said Paul Shen, TVU Networks CEO. “We’re proud to have launched a product at this year’s NAB that will transform the way live sports and live remote video are produced. With TVU RPS, broadcasters can achieve the same objectives of remote production for live coverage, but at a much lower operational cost without the need for an expensive, dedicated fiber link or large on-site production crew. TVU RPS allows broadcasters to expand their video coverage and transform the way live sports, news and remote video are produced.”

NewBay Media’s prestigious 'Best of Show' Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry.

“Recognition with an award at the NAB Show from NewBay Media’s Broadcast & Video Group is a strong vote of confidence and admiration from our leading industry publications,” said NewBay Media Broadcast & Video Group Vice President & Group Publisher Eric Trabb.
