The 'Emergency First Aid Course' has been approved by the Health & Safety Executive since October 2009 and was implemented mainly for workplaces that require their first aiders to be trained to a nationally recognised level, without having to complete a full three-day 'First Aid at Work' course.
The course is designed to meet the first aid requirements of a low-risk working environment, such as offices, shops, food outlets, etc. This means that, although the course is comprehensive, it may not be suitable for high-risk workplaces, in which case, the full 'First Aid at Work' training course may be more appropriate. Students must be aged 16 or over. The 'Emergency First Aid at Work' course includes:
The qualification will allow you to be a nominated first aider in your workplace – Level 2 OFQUAL Emergency First Aid at Work. The qualification is valid for 3 years. The HSE strongly recommends 'Annual Refresher Training'.
09:30 – Coffee & registration
10:00 – Course start
16:00 – Wrap
The courses will be run for the GTC by In Safe Hands. The majority of the team are members of the Ambulance Service or other emergency services. They deliver factual training, based on current guidelines and their personal experience. This ensures you will be taught by a professional who regularly performs the procedures that he or she will be teaching you.
GTC Members: Free of charge.
Non-Members: Whilst these courses are primarily for members, if there are any spare spaces, we will allow non-members for a fee of £50. Non-members who would like to apply, please contact Clive North.
