GTC Workshop: Helicopter Shooting and Safety
Mike Smith, MD of Flying TV, is kindly hosting this exciting day-long
GTC workshop at his base at Denham Aerodrome. Mike will take us through the principles of flight and safety, and will cover all you need to know about operating safely in the air both with a gyro-mount and handheld.
Jeremy Braben of Helicopter Film Services will show the mounts and helicopters he uses for shooting major movies sequencies on formats up to 65mm and I-Max.
GTC members will also speak on the day:
- Alan Duxbury on the events surrounding his crash whilst filming with Ray Mears;
- Laurie K Gilbert on his worldwide career of aerial shooting in all formats including cine, video and stills
- senior F1 cameraman Rex Palmer on his experiences of working from helicopters and of ditching at sea.
A very full day. Not to mention the thrilling ‘Hover Challenge’. One member will be
selected by draw on the day for the chance to fly a helicopter and to hold a hover for
60 seconds!
