The GTC is a member of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry and would like to remind all members that carnets are available at a discount. If you require advice or access to the service please contact the Documentation section of Birmingham Chamber direct. They are experts in this field and their contact details are below.
A GTC member said of this service: "I have used the Birmingham Chamber many times, and also previously the one at Heathrow. The Birmingham Chamber is more efficient, informed and friendly. The service was knowledgeable, friendly, and swift. A refreshing change from the alternatives."
Normally the service currently costs £261 + VAT
GTC members will be charged £179 + VAT
The Carnet is a legal document and in addition to the administration fee the Chamber requires an Indemnity Guarantee as is the normal procedure with ATA Carnets. This can be covered in three ways:
a) through the Chamber with Norwich Union, premium dependant on value of goods to be exported and destination – this premium is non-refundable
b) bank guarantee using form supplied by the Chamber
c) cash deposit (cheque)
b) and c) are refundable.
The Chamber has a specialist documentation department and in case of difficulty can assist with local customs. The carnet user is advised to contact the Chamber as soon as possible if problems arise during use of the carnet. Normally, carnets are completed on-line and can be available in under 24 hours; documents can be sent special delivery anywhere in the UK.
