CTBF launches National Care Plan with Anchor
The industry charity Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF) - who recently assisted a GTC member through a period of serious illness - have got together with Anchor, a leading not-for-profit housing and care provider, to offer discounted care for the over 55s.
In the first venture of its kind, the CTBF has launched a National Care Plan, which enables those who have worked in the film or commercial television industries for at least two years to receive a discount in any Anchor care home across England.
Taking the offering one step further, the charity has extended the scheme to parents of those working in the industry. The partnership with care and housing provider Anchor – which operates almost 100 care homes and retirement housing to rent at 700 sites across England – means that those who work in cinema and television from all parts of the country can now access care homes at preferential rates and receive help with finding retirement housing from a trusted and well-regarded provider.
Barry Jenkins OBE, President of the CTBF, explains: “As a trade charity we have a responsibility to respond to the growing needs of film and television professionals experiencing hardship across the country. We have seen an increasing demand for care support regionally and we believe this unique partnership with Anchor is a great way to answer that need and a smart way for not-for-profits to work together for mutual benefit.”
The new offering builds on the charity’s tradition of caring for older beneficiaries at the CTBF-operated Glebelands care and nursing home, set in a Grade II Listed building in Wokingham, Berkshire.

We chose Anchor after an assessment of national care providers because of its shared values, wide reach and reputation in providing high-quality person-centred care.”
