The GTC will have representation at Plus Camerimage 2008 in Lodz, Poland. Council members, Chairman Brian Rose, Vice Chairman John Tarby and Martin Hammond will all be there. If you are also thinking of attending, they may be able to advise on travel arrangements and how to book for events and the key networking opportunities. You can contact Martin on email@example.com.
Plus Cameraimage, which takes place in the first week of December, is an international festival of the art of the cinematographer and is dubbed 'the greatest and most recognised festival dedicated to the art of cinematography and its creators – cinematographers'. It is held annually in Lodz, the second biggest city in Poland and the capital of Polish cinema. Its aim is to contribute to the growth of cinematographers’ prestige. The unconventional format of the Festival, which awards films according to visual, aesthetic and technical values, has turned into a very popular alternative to the traditional film festivals.
Apart from the main competition, the Festival also contains other events such as a Student Etudes Competition, Student Panorama, Plus Camerimage Market, Plus Camerimage Forum, Polish Films Competition, special screenings and premieres, various reviews, retrospectives, meetings and also accompanying events such as exhibitions and music performances.
There are also numerous seminars and workshops organised in the Festival Centre and in the professional film studio of the OPUS FILM company, led by some of the greatest modern cinematographers, directors and other filmmakers.
Presentations of modern film equipment and of the latest production and post-production technologies are also an inherent part of the Festival. These are organised with the co-operation of companies such as Arri, Panavision, P+S Technik, Filmgear, Sachtler, Litepanels, K5600, Finnlights, Floatcam Pro, Mbs, J.L.Fisher, Sony and Digital Lab.
All this provides an opportunity for cinematographers from around the world to discuss issues and share their knowledge, experience and ideas. View a full programme of events here.
The new Image Forum (previously mentioned on this site) will be officially launched at 1.00 on Wednesday 3rd December. GTC council member Martin Hammond is a committee member of the new Forum.
