Two techniques will be covered in this GTC workshop – Time-lapse and Hyper-lapse photography. Along with drone footage, TV now makes great use of time-lapse sequencies in everything from dramas and documentaries to news coverage.
Time-lapse is the technique of capturing an event over a long period of time and condensing it into a short period. It is particularly useful for capturing events that are too slow to watch, such as sunrises or event builds.
Hyper-lapse is the art of shooting moving time-lapses, often over vast distances. This results in vast sweeping movements that can be used to aid with storytelling, or provide a bit of a ‘wow’ factor.
Paul Richardson is a Manchester-based time-lapse and hyper-lapse specialist (www.paulrichardson.net) who uses special 3-axis rigs to create dynamic hyper-lapse footage that is truly unique, giving vast sweeping movements to time-lapses, often over hundreds of metres, and all in 4K resolution.
Paul's presentation will cover the nuts and bolts of time-lapse and hyper-lapse photography and will include clips of some of his amazing sequences.
