BSC plans camera tests and road shows

Following the success of the British Society of Cinematographers’ independent camera tests and their subsequent road shows, the BSC have submitted a funding application to Skillset for a new set of tests on 16 film and HD cameras and seven subsequent regional presentations supported by recent case histories.

The total project if approved will cost £293,000 for the camera tests and £67,000 for the road shows. GTC members have attended previous presentations at NFT1, Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff, The Hat Factory Post in Soho and GTC seminars at the last Awards weekend. The BSC will be looking to use members of recognised guilds and societies to support the camera tests which, subject to funding confirmation, will be held at Pinewood Film Studios over five days in early February 2009. Technical handouts from this year's seminars can now be downloaded free of charge from bscine.com should GTC members and others wish to study them.

An update on the progress of this application will be posted on the GTC website by the end of November 2008. For further information, please contact Martin Hammond.
