GTC Bill Vinten award attracts an encouraging 24 student films in its first year

With 24 films from 22 graduates, from eight universities, this first year of the Bill Vinten GTC University Award has well exceeded initial expectations.

A jury reflectiing both great experience and relative novices in camera craft, young and old and genders, will be coming to a decision by the beginning of July.

The eight universities that have submitted entries are:

• Birmingham City University
• Bournemouth University
• Cambridge School of Art
• Kingston University
• Leeds Metropolitan University
• Staffordshire University
• University of the West of England
• University of York.

These universtiies have entered an encouragingly diverse range of genres – drama, adverts, charity films, documentary, kids, music, shopping, sport, talk show and a trailer.
