Producer/director Gerry Troyna to speak at the Bill Vinten GTC Awards

The GTC is delighted that producer/director Gerry Troyna will be guest speaker at the Bill Vinten GTC University Awards presentation to be held at the Heslington Studio, University of York (last year's winning university) on Wednesday 22 October.

Gerry has spent more than 30 years making documentaries for major broadcasters including a feature-length documentary, American Nomads, which explores the history, myths and reality of living on the road in the American West.

Something of a specialist in beautifully filmed and always popular television railway series, Gerry's other credits include the acclaimed and GTC-Award winning Indian Hill Railways, Monsoon Railways and soon to be completed Border Lines for BBC4, which will observe the characters on the railways that cross India’s borders.

GTC Members wishing to attend the presentation of the second ever Bill Vinten GTC University Awards – there are still a few places left – should contact Stuart McKears as soon as possible on vaadmin@gtc.org.uk. The evening, kindly hosted by the University of York, will be an excellent opportunity to network with guests of honour Gerry Troyna and Bill Vinten, other GTC members and GTC Council members, representatives from the shortlisted universities and last, but definitely not least, the up-and-coming talent that is the shortlisted students.
