Raise the Roof Kenya opens Barut Project

The amazing Raise the Roof Kenya (RTRK) charity, started by GTC member camerawoman and 3D stereographer Holly Bantleman, raises funds for projects to help young people in Kenya. The charity is supported by many cameramen and industry professionals. Thanks to their and other supporters' fundraising efforts, RTRK was recently delighted to achieve its aim of opening The Barut Youth Development and Sports Centre to help the people of Nakuru. Read about Raise the Roof Kenya.

The Barut trade school, community centre and sports ground opened on 18 February to its first 50 students who will study Agri-business or Fashion & Design. Now settled in, the students are doing really well and their instructors are very impressed with their levels of dedication to their education and future.

In setting up the project RTRK worked hard to secure the support of important local partners, in particular a large textile business that will offer work experience and employment to the students, and Kenya's premier Agriculture University, which is offering expert advice, training and facilities.

The GTC is pleased to support the work of RTRK and various other charities – see more about charities the GTC supports.
