Rory Peck Awards open for entries

OPEN FOR ENTRIES!

The Rory Peck Awards are uniquely dedicated to the work of freelance cameramen and women in news and current affairs. These are the videojournalists, filmmakers and news camera operators who contribute so much to international newsgathering and to our understanding of the world. Established in 1995, the Rory Peck Awards showcase their work and demonstrate why they deserve recognition and support.

Submissions are invited in the following categories:

Rory Peck Award for News sponsored by Google: Honours the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in the coverage of one news event where the focus is on the immediacy of the story. (Duration: up to 10 minutes.)


Rory Peck Award for News Features
Honours the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in news features that look beyond the immediacy of the news. (Duration: up to 20 minutes)


Sony Impact Award for Current Affairs
Honours the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in long-form current affairs that examines a single issue, story or situation and has an impact on the viewer, policy, or public awareness. (Duration: up to 60 minutes)


  • Across all categories, the awards recognise quality of camerawork, and also take into account individual endeavour and journalistic integrity.
  • All entries must have been broadcast between 1 June 2018 and 31 May 2019 inclusive.
