Media Production Show announces record attendance and new May dates for 2020

The Media Production Show (MPS) ended on a high this week with its biggest ever visitor attendance of 6,500 – up 25% on 2018. The 2019 show was sold out on the exhibition floor and, after two days of packed floors and seminars, logged a record rebook of stand space for May 2020.

These successes bode well for the evolution of the show, which moves next year to the more industry-friendly dates of 13–14 May and will become The Media Production & Technology Show, reflecting additional content and the exciting ways in which technology is helping drive change in the media and creative industry.

Visitors had more choice than ever across the exceptional MPS free seminar programme, with a new Technology and Post Creative Hub, a Production and Lighting Theatre and a Broadcast Sports Zone added to the popular Audio, Broadcast TECH and Keynote Theatres. Over 300 experts and thought leaders from diverse organisations including the Royal College of Art, IMG, Avid, Kudos, Wisebuddah and Pinewood Studios shared their experiences and opinions over the two-day show, with standing room only at the majority of sessions.

Charlotte Wheeler, Event Director, Media Production Show, said:

“We’ve been overwhelmed with positive feedback from visitors and exhibitors alike, citing the breadth and depth of the seminar programme, the diversity of attendees and the overall value that the show offers. This is testament to the hardworking MPS team, and the support of MBI as a business, striving throughout the year to ensure MPS is a must-attend event that is worth investing time and money in. We are in constant contact with all sectors of the industry to help us deliver a relevant, inspirational and practical event, and the developments we will make in 2020 – with extra space and more technological content in addition to our established production focus – will offer a more rounded view of the industry and its myriad opportunities.”

The show also saw its highest rebook rate ever with exhibitors including Panasonic, Fujifilm, XTFX, Barclays, Sennheiser, HHB, Lawo, Jigsaw24, ITV Content Delivery, Digibox, Cooke Optics and Artem all signing up for 2020.

Lexie Hogan, Director of Marketing, HHB, said,

“We had a great time at MPS this year. Our schedule was absolutely hectic but we met some great new faces, saw everyone we wanted to see and got some fantastic new leads. We’re very much looking forward to seeing what next year has in store for us.”

Bethan Wilkin, Content Delivery Manager, ITV Content Delivery, said:

“This was our first show and it’s been a great experience for us, it totally surpassed our expectations. We got exposure to an extremely receptive audience which has been incredible. We feel like the show worked really well for us and would love to do it again. It’s been a well-organised, brilliant experience.”

Carey Duffy, European Sales Director, Cooke Optics:

“This year’s show has been fantastic. We’ve had some really diverse conversations, which was useful to educate the people who weren’t aware of what we are about. Our investment was totally worth it and we’re certainly looking forward to next year.”

The GTC team was also there on Stand 572 and was pleased to welcome a steady stream of visitors and catch up with plenty of sponsors.
